The Abiriba community identified the young Mayor as one of the talented potentials of his generation and magnanimously sponsored him to study at the pioneer and prestigious University College, Ibadan (UCI), Nigeria, an overseas affiliate to the University of London, London. He successfully completed his course of study there in record time in 1952, thus, becoming one of the few pioneer graduates of the institution with a B.A. (Honors) degree in the classics with a bias for then-popular combo, English and Latin. He quietly sponsored many people through academic institutions while assisting qualified personnel to be gainfully employed especially in the school system.

He was a foundation member of the prestigious Akahaba Age Grade belonging to its exclusive “Otuenyi”. An epitome of the young and at heart and a man of the people, Mayor Otisi Omoji’s friendship scope and social life knew no age or status barrier. As a young boy, he associated not only with his peers but also the elders of his day such as Ete Ndukwo Nta and Chief Awosley Otisi. As an elderly man, most of his good friends were young people.

Mayor married his sweetheart, Eudora Ugo Mbonu, in 1954 and the Almighty God blessed the union with six children and many grandchildren. He showed unequaled love and devotion to his family both nucleus and extended in every circumstance. He indiscriminately gave everyone the opportunity to improve himself or herself educationally and otherwise. He was a source of inspiration and pillar of support to everyone in the family and always disciplined with love to bring out the best in all. He loved his only brother, Chief Ujah Omoji (fondly called PAPA, ETE UJAH, of blessed memory), dearly.

Mayor’s hobbies were mostly reading, dancing, and positive thinking. THE NECESSARY U-TURN NEEDED IN THE NIGERIAN POLITY

This write up is just my personal opinion on the present Nigerian policy direction and what needs to be done at this time. Since the government of President Buhari took over power, we have had to deal with various problems that are both transferred from previous governments and new ones. We have continued the war on terror, started a seemingly new fight against corruption, tried to deal with a drop in oil price which is our main source of income, had a delay in the formation of the Presidents cabinet, a delay in budget passing last year, budget padding issues, new uprising in the South east and South  south, plus a lot more. Where do we stand today on all these issues? "IMPUNITY when it affects the RICH"

What is impunity?  Impunity  means  exemption or freedom from punishment, harm, or loss ".  In the  international law  of  human rights , it refers to the failure to bring perpetrators of  human rights violations  to justice and, as such, itself constitutes a  denial  of the victims' right to  justice  and  redress . Impunity is especially common in countries that lack a tradition of the  rule of law , suffer from  corruption  or that have entrenched systems of  patronage , or where the  judiciary  is weak or members of the security forces are protected by special  jurisdictions  or  immunities . This is a word used by a lot of people to express its disgust on the high handedness and oppressive actions of some government agencies and officials. It is a normal occurrence for state agencies to act with impunity on normal defenseless citizens as they have so much powers to do so but recently there has been a shift of those who are being oppressed. These days the masses stay b
