"IMPUNITY when it affects the RICH"

What is impunity?  Impunity  means  exemption or freedom from punishment, harm, or loss ".  In the  international law  of  human rights , it refers to the failure to bring perpetrators of  human rights violations  to justice and, as such, itself constitutes a  denial  of the victims' right to  justice  and  redress . Impunity is especially common in countries that lack a tradition of the  rule of law , suffer from  corruption  or that have entrenched systems of  patronage , or where the  judiciary  is weak or members of the security forces are protected by special  jurisdictions  or  immunities . This is a word used by a lot of people to express its disgust on the high handedness and oppressive actions of some government agencies and officials. It is a normal occurrence for state agencies to act with impunity on normal defenseless citizens as they have so much powers to do so but recently there has been a shift of those who are being oppressed. These days the masses stay b

Maintaining the order within the Nigerian Hospital

Let me start with some terms used and what they mean when you say it anywhere in the world apart from my country Nigeria. Chief Medical Offic er (CMO) is the title used in many countries for the senior government official designated head of medical services, usually at the national level. The post is held by a physician who serves to advise and lead a team of medical experts on matters of public health importance. The post of Chief Medical Officer dates back to Victorian times. The equivalent title may go under different names across countries, for example known as the Surgeon General in the United States and the Chief Public Health Officer in Canada. Consultant (medicine): In the United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland, and parts of the Commonwealth, consultant is the title of a senior hospital-based physician or surgeon who has completed all of his or her specialist training and been placed on the specialist register in their chosen speciality. Their role is entirely distinct

Overcoming the Security Challenges in Nigeria

First let me start by expressing my deepest condolence to the families that lost someone in the Abuja bombing. It is a very tragic event and I hope that we as a nation will overcome these challenging times. I also want to say a little prayer to God to help children and women in the captivity of terrorists in Nigeria. May God safe guard them even within the belly of the beast. National security is a word used by many leaders all over the world and recently very often in the Nigerian media to describe a sense of safety to a Nation from break down of law and order. To a common man on the streets of Nigeria, his mind goes straight to the Nigerian army and other security outfit in the country. National security is wider than simply putting out combat ready officers to guard the Nation. It has to do with security of other major factors. Security starts by first knowing who lives in your country and what they have been or are doing with the last six months to one year. This can be achieve

Confusion on the term MASSES

When you listen to people discuss in television talk shows and on pages of newspapers, everyone talks about the masses. How issues affect the masses or what the masses believe and what the masses would want. When you listen to the issues in discuss, you then wonder if the word masses refers to the common man on the street or some group of people we don’t know about. I once heard a man on a talk show saying that the masses have been clamoring for a national conference in Nigeria. I was a little disturbed as I have always believed I was a part of this expression called the masses and that issue was not even on the agenda in a public bus or a market chat. I was either not talking to a lot of people to know what really troubles them about the country or I might not be a part of these so called masses everyone on television is talking about. From my childhood days, the same issues have been troubling the nation Nigeria and those are the issues I hear people talk about in public pl
